After discovering an appreciation for Desmond Tutu’s nonviolent efforts from a group of Denver Latino gang members, PeaceJam founder Suvanjieff envisioned a foundation through which Nobel Peace Prize laureates work shoulder-to-shoulder with youth. PeaceJam, launched in 1996 in Denver, Colorado, connects youth from across the globe with Nobel Peace Laureates—inspiring young people to transform themselves, their communities, and the world. So far, more than 1 million global service projects have been launched by 600,000 PeaceJam youth. Over the next ten years, PeaceJam’s Global Call to Action will work to inspire ONE BILLION acts of service—with youth and Nobel Peace Laureates leading the way in tackling the most pressing issues of our time.
